Despite its confusing name, Ngurah Rai is in fact situated between Jimbaran and Kuta, around 13 kilometers (30 minutes) south of Denpasar. The airport was named after the Indonesian national hero, I Gusti Ngurah Rai. Ngurah Rai International Airport is the third busiest international air transportation center in Indonesia (after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and and Juanda International Airport. It is situated near the wide-ranging tourist expansion in southern Bali- the resort hub of Kuta which is 2.5 kilometes north of Ngurah Rai Airport. Ngurah Rai Airport is a major center well-linked to South East Asia, Australia and the rest of the country. Besides Garuda, the national air carrier, other major carriers serving Bali are Mandala (domestic, Taipei and Hongkong), AirAsia (domestic, Singapore and Malaysia), Jetstar (Singapore and Australia) and Pacific Blue (Australia).
The airport's website can be translated into English (online) but doesn't comprise much useful information. So you are left with finding all the information needed at the information booth within the airport.
