The airport is situated in the region of Cumbica, in Guarulhos City, approximately 25 kilometers from the city center of Sao Paulo. El Al is the newest air carrier to begin operations at Sao Paulo Airport since May 2009. Air China was regarded as the latest carrier to stop operations at Sao Paulo Airport due to rising fuel prices. But Air China declared that it will continue its operations at Sao Paulo starting with December 2009.
