Juan Santamaria International Airport (airport code: SJO) is situated in Alajuela around 20 kilometers from San Jose. The airport got its name from Juan Santamaria, the national hero of Costa Rica. It is the main airport of Costa Rica, serving a huge number of travelers from Europe, United States and Canada. At present, Juan Santamaria Airport is the second busiest air transportation facility in Central America (Panamas Tocumen International Airport being the first).
The major airlines of the airport are TACA/Lacsa for international services and the subsidiary of TACA, Sansa for domestic services. Air Comet, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines and US Airways are some of the airlines serving Juan Santamaria.
The airport's website is entirely in Spanish (and the writer doesn't speak the language, so you've been warned). Information about flights can be found here.
