In addition to being the capital city for one of the most popular countries on the planet to visit, Paris is also one of the main international gateways to Europe. And travelers who are just planning to stay in Paris once they fly in have the luxury of choosing between two pretty big international airports - although one is so much larger than the other that your choice may be made for you. While planning your trip, do not forget to check the deals available on tickets to Paris and learn more about what to do there with this Paris travel guide.

Both Paris airports are managed by the same company, Aeroports de Paris, so many of the links listed below are not airport-specific. If you find this annoying, you are not alone.

Charles de Gaulle International Airport (airport code CDG) is by far the biggest airport serving the French capital. It is commonly known by its three-letter airport code, CDG, or by the town it is actually closest to, Roissy. Heathrow Airport in London is the only airport which outranks CDG in terms of passenger traffic numbers, so this is one busy airport. Air France, the French national airline, is based at Charles de Gaulle airport, and a list of all airlines serving CDG is on this page. Arriving and departing flights can be tracked on the airport's website - arrivals here and departures here - and you will find downloadable terminal maps here. Ground transportation to and from the airport includes the fantastic RER train (get more specific information about taking the RER from CDG into Paris), and if you want to rent your own car you can do that from one of the agencies on this page.

Paris-Orly Airport (airport code ORY) ranks far behind Charles de Gaulle in terms of overall size and passenger numbers, but it is very popular with many of Europe's budget airlines who favor it over CDG. So while you may still be stuck flying into CDG from overseas, you may find cheaper tickets into Orly from elsewhere in Europe. easyJet considers Orly a hub, and a list of all the airlines serving Orly is on this page. Arrivals can be tracked from this page, and departures from this page. Terminal maps are available here, and your ground transportation options are listed here. If you would rather rent your own car from Orly, you can get a car from the companies listed here.
