While the busiest airport in Mexico is easily the airport in the capital city, most tourists headed for Mexico are going to one of the country's popular beach resort destinations rather than Mexico City. For that reason, you will find information below about the capital's airport as well as some of the airports serving those beach towns. Be sure to check out these cheap tickets to Mexico, as well as find out what to do (besides lie on the beach) when you are there with this travel guide to Mexico.

Benito Juarez International Airport (airport code MEX) is also commonly referred to simply as Mexico City International Airport, and it is the busiest airport in the country as well as one of the busiest in Latin America - which makes sense, as it is serving one of the most populous cities on earth. This enormous airport is a hub airport for Aero California, Mexicana, Aviacsa, Aeromar, Lineas Aereas Azteca and AeroMexico, and you can find a list of all the airlines serving Mexico City's airport on this page of the airport's website. You can also track both incoming and outgoing flights on this page. A map of the airport is here, and your ground transportation options (which include bus and subway) are here. You can also rent a car from one of the companies listed here.

Cancun International Airport (airport code CUN) is the second-busiest in Mexico, and serves the tourist resort of Cancun. Because it is such a popular airport, you are not starved for choice when it comes to airlines serving Cancun - although the airport's website does not have a list of those airlines readily available. Passenger services at the Cancun airport are listed on this page, however, and you can read about ground transportation options here.

Los Cabos International Airport (airport code SJD) serves the city of Cabo San Lucas, and is also one of Mexico's busier airports. The airport code stems from the fact that the airport itself is located outside Cabo San Lucas in the town of San Jose del Cabo. The airport's website seems to have been "under construction" for more than three years now, so do not count on getting any particularly good information about the airport before you arrive.

Other airports serving Mexico include Alvarez International Airport (airport code ACA) in Acapulco, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (airport code PVR) in Puerto Vallarta, and General Rafael Buelna International Airport (airport code MZT) in Mazatlan.
