New York is blessed with three major international airports to fly in and out of, although all of them routinely receive bad marks from travelers. JFK Airport is the biggest and busiest of the three, and is also a major international gateway to and from the United States. LaGuardia Airport (airport code LGA), on the other hand, is the smallest airport of the three, but is physically the closest one to Manhattan. (Even though JFK is only 12 miles from Manhattan, the drive between the two places can be maddeningly long due to traffic.) Most international travelers are still routed through JFK, but if you are flying domestically in or out of New York City then LaGuardia might be your best bet.

LaGuardia is a focus airport for US Airways, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, and you can see a list of all the airlines which serve LaGuardia on this page of the airport's website. General information about flight schedules can be found here, and you can track actual flights here. Information about the airport's terminals - including what is in them, like restaurants and shops - is on this page, and your choices for ground transport to and from the airport are outlined here. If you are driving yourself to or from LaGuardia, you may find these driving directions helpful - and you may also want to book your LaGuardia airport parking in advance, to help save time and money on the day of your flight.

Your alternatives for flying in and out of the New York City area are John F. Kennedy International Airport (airport code JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (airport code EWR) in Newark, New Jersey.
